Hi Gr. 6-8 families!
I am writing to inform you that fall sports sign-ups have opened for the upcoming season. In order to participate, families must register in Final Forms. Here is the link to sign up:
Please sign your student athletes up for coed soccer, girls volleyball, or coed cross country (long distance running) if they are interested in playing this fall. Students may only participate in one sport each season. Families must be able to transport their student home promptly at the end of each practice/ game, and there is no late bus for students.
All forms, including
up-to-date physicals
, must be completed and on file in order for your student to begin practicing.
If you do not have an updated physical on file with the school nurse, please schedule one to ensure your student athlete is eligible to play.
Physicals are good for one year from the date they occur. If your student’s physical is expired, or will be expiring soon, please schedule a physical as soon as possible, because there is often limited availability near the end of the summer, and we do not want athletes to miss the beginning of the season.
Both student and parent/guardian forms must be completed on Final Forms in order to start the season. Please make sure both the student athlete and the adult signing them up have access to an email account to receive the links to complete the forms- the emails from Final Forms often get sent to the spam folder, so be sure to check there if you do not see any emails.
*To be eligible to play on a team, students must meet the school character and grade standards. Any student who does not act appropriately during school, practice or games may be removed from the team at the discretion of the coach. We are a character school, and our character on and off the field matters.
**Signing up for a sports team requires a commitment from the player and their family. We count on our teammates throughout the season, and it is important we have committed players who will come to practice, work hard during practice, and take things seriously the entire season.
***These are competitive teams where we are playing against other middle schools in the city of Hartford. Playing time may not be even for all players and will be based on individual skill and effort during practice. Efforts will be made to ensure all players get playing time, but this is not guaranteed every game.
****Appropriate equipment is required for practice and games, and must be purchased by families. Students will not be able to attend practice if they are not prepared.
Coaches will send out additional information including our practice and game schedules in the coming weeks.
